Will 2017 be the year of great changes for the iPhone?
After the launch of the iPhone SE and after getting to know its new features, attention slowly begin to turn to the iPhone 7. According to the latest rumors, the new model of Apple should incorporate a larger battery, rapid charging and a new 10nm chip. But there is more.
One of the major criticisms of the current smartphone is undoubtedly the short battery life and the iPhones are not exception at this point. According to some rumors, Apple may include an increased capacity battery in the new iPhone 7, approaching to the 2000 mAh, improving the current 1715 mAh used on the iPhone 6s. Although the change is small, with the optimization of iOS, may represent a significant increase in battery life.
According to several lines of thought on the energy performance, the gain will not be in increased power exclusively, it is more in the reduction of consumption at the operating system level and also at applications and services that run on top of this.
New iPhone might bring fast and wireless charging
Apple has resisted integrating fast charging in their models, technology introduced by Qualcomm and presented in many Android models. But according to some information, it is possible that the new iPhone 7 will have this feature, along with the wireless charging technology, although the latter has no great success or great popularity, but it is a fact that this technology already exists and Apple doesn’t have it.
To follow up this evolution must be present one 2A charger that will allow similar performance to fast charge 3.0 by Qualcomm. This could bring to Apple users another technology that the competitors already using and which is useful.
A10 chip can be manufactured in 10nm
Recently, the production of Apple’s chips has been divided by TSMC and Samsung. Both companies have focused efforts on developing its production line, and the Samsung obtained the advantage in 2015 with its 14nm chips, while TMSC still remains in the manufacture in 16nm. But, according to recent data, TMSC can advance to the Samsung and launch the first chip manufactured in 10nm in the second half of 2016. If it happens, the Taiwan based company could even make the next chip for Apple, the A10, with 10nm technology, representing the greater processor efficiency and thus extend the battery life of the device.
Another rumor that has intensified is the introduction of the 5.8-inch screen but now with AMOLED technology. This new screen size is likely to substitute the current supply of 5.5 inches iPhone and in the future Apple will focus only on 4.7-inches and 5.8-inches screens.
We started already to count down to the launch of the new iPhone that will happen in September if all goes according to the traditional calendar in recent years. This is because more recently, some rumored a possible postponement of the release for early 2017, changing the course and seasonality of the iPhone once again. Although this information has not been confirmed, it is true that in terms of business Apple has lost some glow in the news for brands that use the beginning of the year to launch their products, while Apple, already launches technologies at the end of each year.
