TILT – revolutionary cooling system for MacBook Pro
Do you use your MacBook Pro with Retina display for the “heavy” tasks like gaming or video editing? I bet – at least once in life you thought about buying a cooling plate for hot “apple” laptop. Take a look at the new cooling plate from famous guys from the team MadMinds.
If you are actively following the Kickstarter you’ve probably heard about their previous products – TILT and TILT Stealth. Reviews of those were enthusiastic, the leading IT editions spoke of accessories like: “Well, finally somebody came up with cooling for the MacBook, that looks fantastic and does what it supposed to do”. TILT Retina is the third project from MadMinds and the developers have taken into account the experience and came up with something new.
The new cooling system called UpFlow is incorporated in the TILT Retina. System, the development of which took a year, is made by taking into consideration the new “asymmetric” cooling and side air intakes of new MacBook Pro with Retina display. UpFlow technology allows the laptop to “lay” on an air cushion and get rid of the excessive heat, meanwhile get cold air in natural way, which significantly improves air circulation and, therefore, reduces the heat.
As a proof developers show us results of tests. For example, the surface temperature of jeans, where was laying hot MacBook Pro, after 10 minutes was 37 degrees Celsius. Retina MacBook Pro placed on TILT plate for the same time, warmed jeans to 30,5 degrees. The difference is obvious.
The novelty will be certainly appreciated by the users, whose tasks give a greater load on the graphic card. The comparison of graphic performance with TILT cooling and without it can be observed on the image below.
TILT Retina can also be the guardian of the owner’s accessories: you can easily place USB-hubs and external hard drives inside the plate. TILT maintained the design of the line and it looks elegant. Everything is in the spirit of “apple” laptops – from the body materials (aircraft aluminum) to style (minimalism). In MadMinds saying that their cooling system is ideal for MacBooks and it’s easy to believe.
The cost of one of the cooling system for the MacBook Pro with Retina display – $60 dollars. If the crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter succeeds the first batch will be sent to customers in September 2016. The authors of the idea claim that everything has already agreed with the manufacturers, no delays are anticipated.
