Apple began to take the broken iPhone in exchange for a discount when buying a new one

Apple has started to accept the broken iPhones and provide a discount when buying a new smartphone. Campaign is currently valid only in branded Apple stores in the US and applies only to the iPhone 5S and later models. For smartphone 5S Apple is offering a discount of $50 for iPhone 6 – $150 and for the iPhone 6 Plus – $200.

A similar campaign was already operating at Apple’s point of sales. The company offered their clients to exchange their iPhones of the last generation for new models with some discount, but were accepting only smartphones in good condition. Now the company has expanded the program by extending its conditions and including the devices with serious mechanical damages, including broken screens.

The main objective of this campaign is to boost sales, since customers will prefer to buy new iPhone with discount instead of simply repairing screens on the old device.

Coincidence or not, but recently Apple launched the update of iOS 9 that can block the iPhone repaired by third parties, also known as “error 53”.
