How to mark your location on the iPhone

Some days ago I went to visit my friend and left the car on some street nearby, when I was going back it was difficult to find it. However, you can turn your iPhone in a perfect tool to mark location, which is always at hand.

Many people are unaware of such native functionality, which can also be found in some application for the same purpose. Let’s get to know how to mark your current location on the iPhone.


How many times it has happened to leave your car parked in some unfamiliar place and after that looking for it? Especially in big parking lots, not even talking about malls. Fortunately, we can easily find it with the help of iPhone, with a small known feature of app Maps. You can save the location very easily, even simpler if you have an iPhone 6S or an iPhone 6S Plus.

In this article we will explain how to use the iPhone to never forget some particular location.

Mark your location

When you are in the location that you need to remember, follow these steps if you are using the iPhone 6S or 6S Plus:

  1. Unlock the iPhone.
  2. Locate the maps app on the iPhone home screen.
  3. Use the 3D Touch on the Maps app icon.
  4. Select “Mark my location”.


This will open the Maps and drop a pin on your current GPS position. GPS coordinates will be your current position without the need for any other procedure. Simple and direct. If you do not have the iPhone 6S or 6S Plus, do not worry, you can perform this action manually. Just open the Maps application and then click the information button in the lower right corner. In options select Drop pin.

Find and remove your saved location

Now, when you want to come back to your car, you will know where exactly you left it. The streets all look the same, the parking lot has more cars than ever was possible to imagine that there would fit and how to use your iPhone to find your car?

  1. Open Maps application.
  2. Select the Route button on the top toolbar (on the left corner of the search bar), then click on the search field.
  3. Select the Current Location to start.
  4. Now click the Favorites icon and select the dropped pin.
  5. Indications option will appear here.
  6. To remove the pin, click on the search bar and on the left side you will find the Remove Pin option.

Of course on the parking lot inside of the shopping center you might not have great success, because a lot of times GPS signal cannot locate your position, but outside when you leave your car away, sometimes it is important to save your location. Also, this feature can be used to save some cool locations that you’ve been and want to come back later. You can save the location in favorites and later it will be easy to find it.
