Apple shows the first list of cars that will include CarPlay
The Apple technology for automobiles is expanding and to ensure that buyers don’t miss any important information, the company released a new page dedicated to CarPlay. There you can find a lot of information related with Apple and automobiles.
Carplay is a system of interaction between automobile and the iPhone and it allows user to manage a multimedia interface, car music, podcasts, calls, messages, iPhone maps, etc., and all of that will be displayed on the car display in iOS-style. CarPlay works with iPhone 5, 5C, 5S, 6, 6S and Plus versions. The list of supported car models you can see on the image below.
At CES 2016, Ford announced that its multimedia system will include support for CarPlay. The American manufacturer is not included in the list of Apple’s partners. As Apple promising, list of partners will be growing and new partners will be added as soon as they sign agreements.
Recent iOS 9.3 update, released few days ago, also brought some new features to CarPlay. Now, users are able to use the “Nearby” function of Apple Maps and search for their friends while driving, however CarPlay still only works by connecting your iPhone to the car. There is no Bluetooth or any other wireless support yet. However, last week, Volkswagen wanted to demonstrate at CES a wireless connection to CarPlay, but Apple for some reason nixed it. Probably, Apple wants to show it off fully functioning a bit later.
