App Store beats sales records at the end of the year
With record number of sales and activations on Christmas, Apple could only have the same success in its application store (App Store) during the same period, and this happens with values that were never achieved before during the last weeks of the year. 1.1 billion dollars of revenue was reached in this short period of time.
Sales proceeds in the App Store beat all expectations and marked the brand new records in this market. In two simple and quick weeks, which ended on January 3, Apple has managed to register a never before obtained value – 1.1 billion dollars was the result of sales of apps and purchases within these apps.
But beyond these maximums, there were other records broken during this period. Also the daily maximum sales value of applications was exceeded on January 1, 2016, with 144 million dollars in sales. And when this had been achieved earlier? Just six days before, on December 25.
How was the year 2015 for the App Store?
In total during year 2015 Apple earned 20 billion dollars, a large increase from the 15 billion that had been reached in 2014.
These results of 2015 brought to Apple more than 6000 million dollars of revenue coming directly from your applications store, once the brand gets 30 cents for every dollar received. The main “culprits” of these results are applications like Minecraft and Clash of Clans, and also subscription services like Netflix or Hulu.
App Store Ecosystem
These are excellent results not only for Apple, but also for the other elements of the ecosystem. Application developers for iOS have received close to 40 billion dollars since the App Store was launched and this has helped to create over 1.9 million jobs in the United States, 1.2 million in Europe and 1.4 million in China.
